Biography:
I began my journey in to the field of physical therapy in high school. My grandfather had a severe stroke that left his right side paralyzed and hindered a very active man. With strong determination and the help of his physical therapist he was able to make a full recovery. I was amazed at his progress and became very interested in the occupation that was able to have such a dramatic affect on his life. After further investigation and understanding the diversity of patients, including athletes, that a Physical Therapist was responsible for, I knew this career would be perfect for me.
After high school I enrolled at Oakland University with aspirations of studying to become a physical therapist. While at OU, I worked as a student assistant to the Head Athletic Trainer. The experience in the training room helped me develop my knowledge base to further my career as a Therapist and introduced me to many influential professionals in the field.
Following graduation I found work in an independent PT clinic close to OU where I was able to consult and treat patients form Oakland University’s Division IA Athletic Department. This experience gave me the backbone for my treatment philosophy. Here I was able to take an injured player and provide the care needed to get that player back in the game. Although this job was very rewarding, I had other goals to obtain.
With the goal of running my own facility in mind, I began to research possible opportunities. When I discovered HealthQuest, I found a company with an excellent reputation in both the public and physical therapy community. I decided that I wanted to be a part of this type of company, and put all my efforts in securing a position. I have now been practicing since 2003, and I am proud to be part of the HealthQuest family.
I believe that the only way to continue to give my patients the best quality care is through furthering my education and experience and using that information to tailor a unique treatment plan for each patient. I am currently enrolled in Oakland University’s program in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (OMPT), with anticipated certification in May, 2010. I have also taken courses in Myokinematics and have been introduced to various treatment techniques at the HealthQuest quarterly meetings. I have a strong background in sport and orthopedic rehabilitation, with an emphasis on manual therapy and exercise and I am excited for every new challenge that walks through the door! |
