During my 12 years of service in the Coast Guard, I recall visiting the Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital on several occasions. I saw injured men and women of the United States Military and the interaction that the physical therapists had with their patients. Recovery was made possible through these therapists and this sparked my desire to learn more.

After leaving the service, I committed to studying Kinesiology at Vanguard University of Southern California with the intention of studying physical therapy. In addition, I naturally gravitated to Kinesiology as a competitive marathoner and ultramarathoner. Over the course of seven years, I completed over 50 marathons in 50 states. I found that during my races, I was drawn to learning about the underlying causes of many athletic injuries and the steps to prevent them.

In 2014, I continued my education at the University of Michigan, earning a Doctor of Physical Therapy. During my time at U of M, I experienced a myriad of settings from pediatrics to geriatrics and neurological. I am an avid supporter of learning, and I am constantly seeking to hone my skillset with articles, professional training, and from my peers and colleagues.

While reviewing my opportunities, I noticed immediately that the staff at HealthQuest puts the patient’s best interest ahead of their own. I am excited to call HealthQuest my new Physical Therapy “home.”
