Biography:

My journey to become a PTA began with my interest in strengthening and overall health and fitness of myself and others I could help as a personal trainer.  Prior to my decision to pursue a career in the field, I was injured in an intense boot camp class.   I became a patient of Bob Essex, a physical therapist in Battle Creek.  He opened my eyes to the opportunities in the field as a Physical Therapist Assistant. I applied to the PTA program at Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek and began working toward my licensure while continuing to work as a personal trainer and Zumba instructor and single mom of my three children.

Immediately following graduating from the PTA program and obtaining my license, I was hired as a PTA at Bronson of Battle Creek in their outpatient physical therapy clinic.  I worked with an eclectic group of therapists who were trained in a variety of approaches. I was able to combine these approaches and customize for each patient what would be best for them.  It was wonderful to learn so many ways in which to help patients.

I have 2 daughters and one son who were very supportive as I pursued my career in physical therapy.  My middle child would regularly help me study by quizzing me with my flashcards.  This daughter is currently attending graduate school to become a Physical Therapist.

I have been married to my husband Mike since September of 2015.  Combined, we have 7 wonderful children.  We also have one beautiful granddaughter.

In February of 2015 I interviewed with Steve Rabaut and Brian Jones at HealthQuest Physical Therapy in Clawson.  My experience with HealthQuest has only strengthened my passion as a PTA.   I am very proud to work with this amazing team and to continue to learn how to help my patients reach their therapy goals and return to their lives with the tools necessary to maintain a life of strength and wellness.
