Biography:
I arrived at my physical therapy career by a very different route than most . I bring to it a lifetime of experience in other work settings. I graduated from Wayne State with a degree in Biology in the early 70’s and though briefly considered Physical Therapy school at that time, life intervened and I spent the next 25 years working in the construction industry installing fire protection systems. My daughter’s birth in 1990 led me to reconsider my life and my earlier goal of a career in physical therapy. I spent the next decade in school while working to support a family, and ultimately being admitted to the Physical Therapy program at Oakland University. I graduated with my Masters in Physical Therapist degree at the age of 50. My life experiences working in high intensity physical jobs and the perseverance it took to change careers has proven invaluable in helping to understand the work demands of many of my patients as well as the personal effort and time it takes to accomplish goals.

Working in a physical job also helps me relate to and empathize with my patients. I’ve been through joint replacement surgery and rehabilitation three times. I was a patient at HealthQuest Physical Therapy before being a therapist here, so I know the experience from both sides.

My physical therapy career has been varied and rewarding.  I’ve worked in pediatric and school settings, orthopedic clinics, and home care.   I feel grateful that my life allowed me to come full circle back to a career in physical therapy and while I’ve retired from working full time I’m not ready to give up working as a physical therapist. I love working in the community where I live and having the opportunity to continue to learn and utilize my orthopedic skills at HealthQuest of Romeo.
