Like many physical therapists, my journey in health care began with an inherent desire to improve the lives of others. However, when I first began my college career, physical therapy is not where I thought I would end up. My love for sports influenced me to pursue athletic training, initially. Throughout my experience, I realized that I found the most satisfaction in the rehabilitation aspect of athletic training because that is when I was able to connect the most with the patients. As my interest in this field grew, I developed the goal of becoming the best clinician I could be, and so I chose to pursue physical therapy. Continuing to stay true to my goal, I intend to keep moving forward and growing in my clinical practice by obtaining my specialist certifications in sports and orthopedics.
While in PT school, I came to HealthQuest Clinton Township to observe Ed Martel, who was a highly respected physical therapist that was very skilled at treating overhead athletes. I saw Ed as a strong role model in this field and his passion was contagious. I am proud to work for a company that is full of such talented therapists. Like Ed, I am also dedicated to developing the future of this profession and I work part-time as a Teaching Assistant in Wayne State’s PT program. I assist in the Therapeutic Exercise and Kinesiology/Biomechanics courses.
I met my fiancé, Jordan, at Wayne State in 2015. She is an Occupational Therapist and we had some overlapping courses at the beginning of our programs. We have a Pitbull, named Bruce, that we rescued in 2017. We spend most of our free time visiting family and friends and enjoying the outdoors.
