I was a non-traditional student due to the length of time I was in college and the multiple directions I thought I wanted to pursue. Finally, after much time and deliberation I decided on physical therapy as a career path.
While I was in high school I suffered a knee injury that was pretty extensive. Arthroscopic surgery was performed to “clean up my knee”, which was the best option at the time due to my age and the technology that was available. Some years later, while out walking I hit a crack in the side walk causing more cartilage damage in my knee. Reconstructive surgery was the only option after speaking with numerous physicians. After surgery, I had physical therapy. I had no idea that my future and perception of exercise/rehab would be significantly changed. The physical therapist I had was extremely helpful and beneficial. She was, for all intensive purposes, the person who was readily available to answer my questions and push me when I needed it to achieve my goals. It was at this time that I decided that I would like to do this as a profession because of the importance and compassion that was given to me, not to mention I would be able to treat multiple age groups and numerous medical conditions.
So, I have a greater appreciation for “ALL” who have or will go through rehabilitation. Physical Therapy is a wonderful and much needed profession for any one interested in the healthcare field or needs to have physical therapy.
I have been with HealthQuest for many years now and everyday I am thankful for the experience of fellow colleagues and the mindset of the whole company to do what ever it takes to improve the health and well-being of everyone.
