I was doing one of our workouts at Richmond, the last ‘finisher’ was skiers. About 30 seconds in I went to jump and twist and at that moment I heard something pop in my lower back. Throughout my sports career, I have sustained many injuries and this was one of them coming back and letting me know that it was still there. In the last 2 weeks I have been almost useless, it took me a good 5 minutes to go from a sitting position to be able to stand straight up. I could barely dress myself let. Hell, lacing my own shoes was a daunting task. Per usual I tried to tough it out and after 10 plus days I decided that I’m not going to be stubborn any longer. It wasn’t getting any better on its own. So I decided to see our very own Chris Gerhardt at his HealthQuest location here in Richmond. I will say that prior to this I’ve only had 1 other encounter with a physical therapist. It was for this very same injury when it first happened over 10 years ago during a football game. To say the least I didn’t have a great experience. So this time around my expectations weren’t all that high, but I was bit desperate at this point. I went and seen Chris yesterday, thankfully he was able to take me in last minute. I spent about 45 minutes with him while he did his assessments and manipulations on me. I even let him do what’s called ‘dry needling’ on me. Similar to acupuncture but different. With those combinations, my back feels better today than it has in the last 2 weeks. I can actually walk around like a normal human being. My pain level is about a 2 compared to it being a 6-7 just yesterday. If you’re experiencing back pain, or any kind of pain for that matter you should go see Chris! He’s very knowledgeable and can probably help with whatever you’re experiencing.
