I became interested in sports medicine during my time as a high school athlete, but I was not sure which field would be the right fit. I sustained various injuries throughout my high school and college career and received help from ATCs and physicians to quickly return to my sport. During my senior year of college (2016-17), the ATC became a great resource. She gained my trust and became my go-to person for treatment which kept me from hiding injuries in fear of missing basketball. After those experiences, I realized that Athletic Training would be a great fit for me, and would allow me to help individuals safely remain physically active. Throughout my journey, I’ve obtained training from various ATCs, physical therapists, and orthopedic physicians. Overall, I loved the atmosphere of Athletic Training and how it allows me to remain connected to various health professions and to the world of sports. lfortner@35.173.16.116
