Shockwave Therapy

What is shockwave therapy?
Shockwave therapy or extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is an advanced treatment that uses acoustic shockwaves to break up soft tissue calcifications, enhance collagen synthesis, release growth factors, and stimulate your body’s healing process to improve pain. ESWT has been around for more than 50 years and research continues to grow for its use and application. ESWT is administered to a tendon or muscle on top of the skin with a wand, similar to an ultrasound machine. It pulses and delivers low-energy shockwaves. Depending upon the injury, patients can get ESWT and find relief without additional medication, injections or surgery within a couple of visits. ESWT offers a jumpstart to the healing process by allowing the body to increase blood flow and regenerate new tissue quickly. We do ESWT for 5-10 minutes and coupled with physical therapy treatment and a personalized program, it can make a vast improvement and get you back to life quickly.
