FREQUENTLY

ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How can I schedule a video visit?

It’s simple. All you have to do is call the location most convenient to you or complete a request form and ask for a “telehealth visit” and we will take care of the rest.

  • What can a therapist treat through telehealth?

Nearly any rehabilitation treatment can be performed through telehealth capabilities. Telehealth is the ideal alternative if you are unable to come into one of our facilities for your treatment.  Whether you underwent a recent knee replacement surgery, have any sort of chronic condition, joint pain, or chronic pain, this cutting-edge technology will allow an experienced therapist to treat you virtually, so you achieve your goals. In this virtual environment, your physical therapist will educate you and give you the exercises and training you need to improve your current state and reduce pain. This patient-centered program is all about you; you’ll be empowered and trained by a professional therapist who will give you the activities and strategies you need to do the exercises properly. Through the secure video call system, they will be able to provide monitoring and evaluation to ensure a quality experience that allows you to feel better, faster, with long-term results.

  • What if I want to see my therapist in person?

All of our outpatient clinics are open and treating patients. Call your location and check the availability of the therapist you’re used to seeing. We assure you that we are going above and beyond with safety procedures and cleaning processes, taking every step to protect your health, as well as our team’s health. Some of the precautions we are taking to keep our patients and visitors safe in this changing environment can be viewed here.

  • What is a telehealth visit?

“Telehealth” means that our physical therapists are available to meet virtually through a HIPAA-compliant online video chat that is secure and easy to use. A telehealth visit is basically the same as an office visit, but instead of seeing us at one of our facilities, you will use our telehealth system to have a digital “face-to-face” session with your therapist. Telehealth can also be called a virtual visit, video visit, all of which mean the same thing. Once connected, your therapist will assess your condition and provide real-time guidance and feedback, while actively taking you through your therapy session. You can connect with your therapist with your smartphone, laptop or tablet.  If technology is not your thing, don’t worry, we’ll walk you through it over the phone.

  • What is physical therapy?

Physical therapists are evidence-based health care professionals who offer cost-effective treatment that improves mobility and relieves pain, reduces the need for surgery and prescription drugs, and allows patients to participate in a recovery plan designed for their specific needs.

Physical therapists are experts in improving mobility and motion. Pain-free movement is crucial to your quality of daily life, your ability to earn a living, your ability to pursue your favorite leisure activities, and so much more. Physical therapists are medical experts in musculoskeletal and neurological conditions and work closely with physicians. Our physical therapists evaluate your movement patterns, identify the cause of your pain, and work to eliminate it.

While every patient's condition and pain is unique, your physical therapist will use a variety of gentle hands-on techniques, exercises, and equipment to relieve pain quickly and restore your function to optimum levels. The overall goal is to restore pain-free mobility and function and to prevent the injury or pain from recurring.

While surgery and prescription drugs can be the best course of treatment for certain diagnoses, there is increasing evidence demonstrating that conservative treatments like physical therapy can be equally effective (and cheaper) for many conditions.  Choose PT first!  PT doesn’t have side effects or use harmful drugs.

  • What types of therapy appointments can I schedule as video visits?

You can schedule your initial evaluation/appointment, free pain assessment, regular therapy appointment, or even a re-check.

  • Will I be able to see my specific therapist through telehealth?

Yes! All appointments are “live” and this tool allows you to interact directly with your regular therapist through telehealth. While most owners are conducting all visits (with our limited hours/schedule), we would be glad to arrange so your therapist can complete your visit.

  • Will my insurance plan cover my video visit?

Insurance coverage for physical therapy services provided through telehealth is changing on a daily basis. We are finding great support and cooperation from the insurance community in covering these visits, with some payers even waiving copays for patients who choose telehealth during the COVID-19 crisis. We will work directly with you through one of our friendly teammates to review your insurance coverage and give you the information that you need to make the best decision for your care.

  • How do I know if physical therapy will help me?

Working with you and your doctor, we can discuss your options and help determine if physical therapy will be the right choice for you. Contact us today to discuss your current condition and even set up a free consultation if you choose.

  • Can I go to any physical therapy I choose?

As a patient you have the right to receive physical therapy at any place you choose. At HealthQuest Physical Therapy, you will receive the highest quality care while achieving the results you need.  Our patients are more than numbers….they’re family!  We pride ourselves on providing a positive, encouraging environment with well-trained, friendly staff.  We are confident in our ability to help you reach your goals and live a pain-free life.

  • How do I schedule an appointment?

Our scheduling is easy and we offer a convenient location and appointment times for you. We have morning and evening appointments available to meet the demands of your busy schedule.  You can come in as early as 6am or as late as 7pm (we close at 8pm).  We are also open on Saturday! Call us today or simply fill out the schedule appointment form on this page.

  • What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please have your prescription and insurance card available when you call. This will allow us to verify your insurance benefits and provide you with an estimate of coverage.

To bring on your first visit:

    • A prescription for physical therapy from your referring physician, ARNP, or PA, if you’d like to use your insurance. No prescription is necessary if you are paying out-of-pocket.
    • Insurance card(s) & identification card (we will make a copy of your cards).
    • Print out the patient forms, fill them out, and bring them with you. Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete any remaining paperwork, so you can maximize your time in your evaluation.
    • In case of an automobile accident or worker’s compensation claim, also bring any case manager or insurance adjuster contact names, phone numbers, and claim number.
    • Please wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your problem areas.
  • Will it hurt?

Physical therapy is not meant to hurt, but to relieve pain. However, as you restore your mobility, pain levels, at times can fluctuate. You might experience some temporary soreness from using muscles that are weakened or recovering. This is a normal response to therapy treatment. Good communication with your therapist will help minimize any discomfort. We want you on your way to quick pain relief and back to normal activities.
