Position Details:
· Compensation (based on experience): Approximately $32/hour ($55,000 salaried)
· Schedule: Full-time athletic training position following the school calendar, with flexibility built into the schedule throughout the academic year
· Contract: 10-month contract (1720 hours), paid evenly over 12 months
· Summer Schedule: Limited summer hours required
Responsibilities:
· Deliver comprehensive athletic training services for emergent, acute, and chronic injuries
· Collaborate with physicians, coaches, administration, parents, and student-athletes
· Document treatment using electronic medical records
· Follow concussion management protocols and MHSAA return-to-play policies
· Communicate patient status and activity clearance to coaching staff
· Support interdisciplinary treatment planning and discharge coordination
· Maintain regular communication with the clinical director
· Comply with physician orders related to injury and illness management
· Represent HQPT as the preferred provider of physical therapy services within the school community
· Attend staff meetings, complete mandatory continuing education, and maintain active licensure
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or related field (required)
· Post-certification master’s degree (preferred)
· Completion of a CAATE-approved athletic training education program (required)
· Board of Certification, Inc. – Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) (required)
· Licensed Athletic Trainer (AT) in the State of Michigan (required)
· Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid certification (required)
· Additional certifications (e.g., CSCS, PES, FMS, EMT, CKTP, MHSAA Skinfold Assessor) (preferred)
· 1 year of athletic training experience (required); outpatient orthopedic clinical experience (preferred)
Skills:
· Strong clinical evaluation and critical thinking skills
· Knowledge of EMR systems and proficiency with Microsoft Office
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
· Ability to remain calm, empathetic, and professional in high-stress situations
· Team-oriented, yet capable of working independently
· Flexible with evenings and weekends as required
· Physically capable of meeting job demands
