Don’t live with neck pain

Don’t live with neck pain
The neck – or cervical spine – is a coordinated network of nerves, bones, joints, and muscles. Because of the excessive amount of movement, the neck is extremely susceptible to injury. Neck pain is common among adults but it can occur at any age. Over the course of a year about 15% of U.S. adults experience neck pain, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2015). Neck pain can develop suddenly, possibly from an injury, or it may develop slowly over time from years of poor posture, for example.
Inflammation of any of the 14 nerves or eight pairs of joints in the neck can cause neck symptoms. All these nerves and joints are connected to many other
parts of the body so often your neck is to blame as the source of the problem!
4 TIPS TO HELP RELIEVE NECK PAIN
- Only sit when you have to and sit in a firm chair. Sitting is the worse position for your neck and couches/sofas are bad because they promote poor posture. If you have to sit, take frequent breaks and stand up and walk around for a few minutes.
- Change positions frequently and unload (lie down) the spine/neck every few hours. This will allow the inflamed tissues to rest.
- Never sleep on your stomach
- Sleep on your side or your back.
- Use ONE medium size pillow.
- Focus on maintaining good posture at all times.
