Your Voice Matters

As of April 1, 2025, Blue Cross Blue Shield wants to change how it pays for physical therapy. They plan to cut payments as much as 17-23%, officially called Multiple Therapy Services/Therapy Pay Percent reduction (MPPR). This could hurt many physical therapy clinics, and the care patients receive. Even if we don’t see the effects right away, the future could be very challenging if we don’t act now.

Only 8% of people use physical therapy right now. In the next 4-8 years, that number could grow to 16-20%. If the new payment policy is implemented, many clinics might struggle to stay open, making it harder for patients to get the help they need.

The physical therapy field is already facing problems from a shortage of workers and fewer people entering the profession. If we don’t speak up against this policy, it could further harm our industry and the health of millions who depend on physical therapy for recovery and a better life.
