What is athletic training?
At HealthQuest Physical Therapy, our skilled team of Athletic Trainers (ATCs) specializes in the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries. Athletic training is a healthcare profession focused on helping athletes and active individuals stay safe, recover quickly, and perform at their best.
Although Athletic Trainers and Physical Therapists often work with injured patients, their roles, education, certifications, and work settings are different. Athletic Trainers are commonly found on the sidelines, in schools, sports facilities, and athletic programs, where they provide immediate care for injuries, injury prevention strategies, and return-to-play support. Physical Therapists focus more on rehabilitation, movement restoration, and long-term recovery in a clinical setting.
When Athletic Trainers and Physical Therapists work together, athletes receive the highest level of coordinated care. Each profession brings unique expertise, creating the best possible recovery plan and helping reduce downtime after injury.
No matter the sport, age, or skill level, the Athletic Trainers at HealthQuest Physical Therapy are ready to help your team stay healthy, recover strong, and get back in the game.
