I’ve always been an active gym-goer. But, because of my coursework, studying, and teaching classes during my Ph.D. program (unrelated to physical therapy) I got away from fitness and nutrition. During a routine physical exam, my Dr. said that I needed to take better care of myself as my lab work came back in a less than positive way. I took some time away from school to focus on my health and got interested in movement and fitness through CrossFit. I started getting questions from the members at the gym about injuries that they had and what they could do about them. I realized that I liked helping people in that way so I changed my major and got into the PTA program at Henry Ford College. Growing up I played just about every sport I could and I hated not being able to participate in those things if I had a little tweak or if I got hurt. That’s why I love getting my patients back to the activities that they enjoy doing!
