Use it or lose it!

It’s the last quarter of the year, and it’s time to be proactive about your health. Address those nagging, aching pains, or injuries that keep coming back. Why is it so important NOW? Because a pain-free life feels great, and it could be free (or low cost), depending upon where you are with your insurance benefits.
Use your insurance benefits before December 31!
Almost all insurance plans reset on a calendar year. Any applied deductible amounts, out-of-pocket max, visit allowances, and even unused FSA plan dollar amounts do not roll over to the next benefit year. What does this mean? If you don’t use it, you lose it!
Before the year is up, ask yourself these questions:
- Have you reviewed your insurance plan and coverage lately?
- Did you already spend most or all of this year’s deductible?
- Are you in pain? Can physical therapy help?
- Do you want to save money on physical therapy and out-of-pocket expenses?
- Want to start the new year pain-free and have insurance cover all or most of your costs?
If you have a family plan, have had any major surgeries, or have any chronic conditions, you are especially likely to have a $0 balance remaining on your out-of-pocket expenses from this year. This means that starting NOW, the cost of physical therapy could be minimal or completely covered by insurance!
Choose physical therapy for pain – we can help you save money and time plus relieve your pain!
How Choosing Physical Therapy Can Save Money
- It’s important to recognize that physical therapy addresses the root issue, meaning we figure out what the source of your pain is and help you FIX IT. You may lose money by ignoring pain by missing work, needing to go to the doctor, and going in for advanced testing (an MRI average cost is almost $3,000!). Not addressing your pain now can turn things into a more expensive issue later (if you ignore it).
- Our insurance landscape has changed in many ways in the U.S., and many of us have been chipping away at our deductible all year. So that means your physical therapy treatment could be covered at 100% for as many visits as your benefits allow (most often is 30 visits per year). If you don’t use all of your allowable physical therapy visits for 2022 on January 1, 2023 – you’ll lose them! Sure, you’ll get more visits than when your insurance plan renews, but you’ll have to start chipping away at your deductible AGAIN, and your therapy won’t be free (or low cost).
- Maybe it has been a healthy year for you and your family, and you have a large balance on your FSA card that expires on December 31, 2022. Using your FSA dollars to improve your quality of life with PT is worth it!
How Can Choosing Physical Therapy Save Time?
Time is arguably the most valuable thing in life, and many would agree that time is money. When you let an injury go, your body will compensate for that injury more and more. Even day-to-day movements (let alone sports and higher-level activities) will put more stress on the injury. Worse yet, those persistent compensations can lead to pain in other areas of the body. Simply put, the longer you let an injury go, the longer it will take to recover.
