While attending high school I spent a lot of time in our athletic trainer’s office due to being a two-sport athlete playing baseball and football. While spending time with her, I began to grow an interest in the field of sports medicine and more specifically, athletic training. She was the first person who turned my interests towards the field of physical therapy because she, herself, was on the path to becoming a physical therapist herself. To further my interest in physical therapy, I, myself, became a patient of physical therapy after requiring back surgery in July of 2014. I became very interested in the how and why my physical therapist chose the manual techniques, exercises and modalities, to further my recovery. Finally, while working as a physical therapist technician at HealthQuest Physical Therapy-Chesterfield from February of 2016 to May of 2021, really was the final selling point for my interest and drive to join the field of physical therapy. The consistent care and compassion the entire staff showed towards the patients and their persistent drive to make them well again was very inspiring and provided me the final push I was looking for to pursue a career in physical therapy.
