I took the non-traditional route into physical therapy. I graduated from CMU in 1991 with a BBA in accounting. For two years I worked in public accounting. I spent 8 to 10 hours a day crammed into a 4 X 4 cubicle. One day, I decided that I wasn't going to spend my whole professional career at a sedentary job. During college and my high school years, I was a cross-country and track runner.
I joined the HealthQuest family in 2001 after 5 years of healthcare experience in cardiac rehabilitation, home healthcare and as a private practice physical therapy office manager. Since joining HealthQuest, I served as a physical therapy technician until completion of my Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan-Flint in 2002. In 2007, I welcomed the opportunity of opening the 7th HealthQuest Physical Therapy and Wellness Center in Clawson.
I became interested in the field of physical therapy when I had to take my brother to PT after a dirt bike accident. While watching my brother complete his exercises I would talk to the staff and found it interesting how the body worked, and the effect one injury could have on the rest of the body if it was not addressed. The staff at my brother’s clinic were the biggest influence for me to pursue Physical Therapy as a career.
